       Recently, Emerson has launched the industry’s first PEX cross-linked polyethylene liner for flow meters. Compatible with three Rosemount magnetic flow sensors—the 8750W water & wastewater magnetic flow meter, 8705 flanged magnetic flow meter and MS slurry-dedicated magnetic flow sensor—the new liner is engineered for high-abrasion working conditions such as sewage and particle-laden slurries.Conventional fluoropolymer liners carry PFAS compliance risks, while rubber and polyurethane liners are limited in either chemical resistance or abrasion resistance. Multiple liner types also create heavy inventory burdens for enterprises. The new PFAS-free PEX liner balances superior abrasion resistance and acid-alkali corrosion resistance for extended service life. A single liner material covers most water treatment and slurry applications to streamline spare parts inventory, with lower procurement and maintenance costs compared to fluoropolymer alternatives.Currently offered for line sizes up to 8 inches, the PEX liner resists flaring or deformation during disassembly and reinstallation. It delivers consistent, accurate flow measurement amid chemical corrosion and solid particle erosion, serving as an economical and eco-friendly solution for municipal water treatment, mineral slurry and industrial wastewater applications.
