Brief Introduction of Yokogawa UYF200 Ultrasonic Vortex Flowmeter

date:2000-12-01   views:1025

R&D Background

The traditional stress-sensing YEWFLO vortex flowmeter is susceptible to pipeline vibration and medium adhesion, and its sensor cannot be replaced online. Yokogawa launched the UYF200 optimized specially for liquid measurement.

Measuring Principle

Based on the linear Karman vortex street rule , piezoelectric components mounted on the outer pipe wall transmit and receive ultrasonic waves. Vortices trigger periodic phase shifts of sound waves, and the phase signal has a linear correlation with flow velocity, delivering better performance at low flow rates. Equipped with a multi-reference demodulation circuit, a single converter fits all pipe sizes, fluids and temperature ranges.

Structural Highlights

  1. The integrally cast pipe body features externally mounted media-isolated sensors that can be replaced online without shutdown, with anti-clogging and leakage-proof performance. The optimized vortex shedder improves accuracy at low Reynolds numbers.

  2. Standardized piezoelectric sensors are compatible with all pipe sizes and feature explosion-proof construction with strong environmental resistance.

  3. The ASIC miniaturized converter weighs only 60% of the old model, outputs both 4–20mA analog and pulse signals simultaneously, and supports automatic parameter calibration.

Core Advantages

No moving parts, vibration resistance, anti-clogging capability and online maintainability. Suitable for continuous liquid production processes in petrochemical industries, it solves the measuring defects of traditional vortex meters in liquid service.
